The dynamics of partnership

In accordance with its international development strategy, OCP Group has struck long-lasting partnership arrangements with its customers. This co-operation includes both medium and long term supply agreements and construction of new production units. Accordingly, plants located in Morocco and abroad are now run in joint-venture with the Group's partners. Other collaboration lines are currently being studied or under development, particularly with Iran, Pakistan and Brazil.
Prayon (50% OCP, 50% SRIW-Belgium) : OCP Group has acquired an interest in Prayon, a company which owns 2 production sites in Belgium (Engis and Puurs). Prayon's activities mainly include manufacturing and marketing of fertilizers, phosphoric acid and other chemicals, and mineral pigments, as well as development and sale of technical products (various phosphoric acids, fluorine, uranium, filtration, agitation, etc.).

Emaphos (Euro-Maroc Phosphore: 1/3 OCP, 1/3 Prayon, 1/3 CFB) : This project has been developed in collaboration with Belgian (Prayon) and German (Chemische Fabrik Budenheim) partners. It led to the start-up in 1998 of a modern complex designed to produce 120,000 tons P2O5 of purified phosphoric acid per year, built in Jorf Lasfar. This high value added acid is used as it is or via derivative salts in food industry: lemonades, yeasts, cheese, meat and fish preservation, drinkable water treatment, etc. It is also used in other industries such as detergents, animal feed, foliar fertilizers, metal treatment, textile and cement.

Imacid (50% OCP, 50% Chambal Fertilize-India) : To diversify its strategic alliances and secure part of its exports, OCP Group has established relations with Chambal, an Indian company belonging to the Birla private group. In 1999, this partnership led to the commissioning, within the Jorf Lasfar industrial complex, of Imacid, a phosphoric acid plant with an annual production capacity of 370,000 tons P2O5. The manufacture of such a volume of acid requires 1.2 million tons of Khouribga phosphate rock and 330,000 million tons of sulphur.

Zuari Maroc Phosphore (50% OCP, 50% Chambal Fertilizer-India) : Resulting from a partnership between OCP Group and Chambal Fertilizer Ltd (Indian Birla group), this investment company holds 74% of Paradeep Phosphate Ltd (PPL). The remaining 26% are held by the Indian Government. The unit is specialized in the manufacture of phosphate fertilizers, with a production capacity of 1 million tons per year.
