Improving the quality of products, optimizing production capacity, reducing costs, streamlining mining and chemical industry operations, consolidating its position on the market and meeting the customers' requirements are among the projects, included in a multi-year plan, that have been initiated by OCP Group in its various production areas.
An illustration of this is a project to revamp the Daoui washing plant in Khouribga, which is currently being implemented. The objective is to beneficiate by washing-flotation the phosphate originating from layers not exploited so far and to make it possible to increase their P2O5 content, while improving their physicochemical properties.
In Youssoufia, work has started for the construction of a washing-flotation plant. This unit will make it possible to beneficiate and upgrade low-grade clear phosphate.
In Laayoune, two sea water desalination units are planned to reduce water production cost. At the same time, heavy investments are considered for the renovation of the Wharf in Laayoune.
As concerns chemical processing, several projects are presently under study or being carried out. In Safi, a heat recovery system (HRS) project, with reduction of gas emissions, has been started on a double absorption sulphuric acid line. At the same time, significant investments are made with a view to strengthening phosphate derivatives manufacturing potential and thus meeting the customers' requirements in terms of special grades.
In Jorf Lasfar, the construction of a new DAP production unit, with an annual capacity of 850,000 tons, is planned.
