In partnership with OCP Entrepreneurship Network, Startup Morocco hosted the final of the second edition of Morocco StartUp Cup on February 21 at the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and services in Khouribga. StartUp Cup is part of a global network specializing in the development of entrepreneurial ecosystems and job creation. It exists in over 60 countries and is an official partner of the program of the US State Department "Global Entrepreneurship Program".
To promote innovative entrepreneurship in Morocco, the association StartUp Morocco launched in June 2014 with its official partner OCP Entrepreneurship Network, the 2nd edition of Morocco StartUp Cup, a competition Startups acceleration imported from Silicon Valley.
After deliberations, the price of StartUp Morocco is won by SAFEDEMAT Company that is recognized by the Morocco as an innovative company through obtaining a grant of 1 million in the INTILAK project.
As part of the deployment of the strategic axis of sustainable development, the site of Gantour launched an ambitious mining rehabilitation program with large planting actions. The kickoff of the first campaign in 2015 was on 17 February 2015. This campaign aims for the rehabilitation and afforestation of 100 ha, the planting of 42,000 trees of different species adapted to the climate of the region, and other species introduced for experimentation. In total, the program will allow the plantation of 200 ha of land per year.
The 4th edition of the International Water Technologies and Sanitation, "SITeau", sponsored by OCP and which took place in Casablanca from January 14 th to 17th has been a real success. More than 2,000 visitors have attended this event which included round tables, a playground space dedicated to children as well as a big space for exhibition where the OCP group stand of 70m2 was located.
OCP Group, official sponsor of this event, presented its optimized water management strategy that goes hand in hand with its industrial development strategy.
It was also the opportunity for the Group to confirm the importance of reasoned water resources management.
The SITeau is a sneak peak of the next World Water Forum which will be held in April 2015 in South Korea. Morocco will award “Hassan II Prize for water " during this Forum.
OCP Group and the American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) awarded, the AmCham-OCP price of Trade and Investment, during the commercial representation annual gala held on January 17th, 2015. In the "Investment" category, the prize was awarded to CMCP-International Paper Morocco for its commitment to the production of recycled paper
The category "Import" distinguished GESI & Edgeboro EII, a company specialized in waste management and renewable energy, for investing $ 8 million and imported 17, 5 million equipment over the past three years.
Finally, The award “ Export” was awarded to “ Terre et Terroir’s” brand "Secrets Casablanca". Created by three women, “Terre et Terroir” is active in the field of natural cosmetics and wellness products.
The Phosboucraa Foundation is improving its medical caravan in the southern provinces. After the provinces of Guelmim (common Bouizakarne), the first caravan was held in January 2 to the 5th ; 3,820 specialized medical consultations and 116 surgical procedures were offered by 27 doctors and nurses.
The Phosboucraa Foundation organized in partnership with the Medical Moroccan Association of Solidarity (AMMS) and the Ministry of Health a medical caravan in the city of Tata from 16 to 18th January. During this compaign, 4653 medical procedures were provided, including 359 surgeries.
At the main time, the Medical Caravan was also deployed in the city of Dakhla in collaboration with the Association Surgical Caravan (ACCHIR) and the supervisory of the Ministry of Health. 1,740 medical procedures, including 50 25 surgeries were offered.
Different healt medical specialties (ophthalmology, dermatology, cardiology, endocrinology, pediatrics, ..) and surgical (visceral, obstetrics ...) were provided.
Part of the Environmental Excellence Program, and to leverage governance standards (VOSE, GIASE, DA ...) in favor of the environment, an awareness-half day gathering of 20 employees was held last Thursday in HSE Safi in cooperation with the JV Dupont OCP Operations Consulting. And as a takeway of the program, officials have pledged to systematically use indicators of these standards, to ensure both the security of the sites and the protection of the environment.
Following the bad weather experienced by some parts of the country, several solidarity actions were undertaken by the OCP Foundation to help the affected provinces. In Ouarzazate, a solidarity action, started on December 18, targeting 10 douars in partnership with the association «Parrain du sourire ", and consisted of the distribution of donated food, blankets, clothing and medicine.
A similar operation is planned in the provinces of Sidi Ifni and Tiznit. Identification of local entities that will support implementation of this operation is in progress with the support of the province and local authorities.
In addition, a surgical caravan was organized from November 27 to 29 in the province of Guelmim, in coordination with the Phosboucraâ Foundation and in partnership with ”Association Caravane Chirurgicale “ (22 surgeons and nurses), the Association Mountada al Madina (local association), the Regional Directorate of Health and the Provincial Delegation of Health.
The mobilized medical staff was able to conduct sixty surgeries and nearly 600 consultations at the provincial hospital and in various health centers in the city of Guelmim, even though they were severely affected by the floods. Finally, during the same operation, sixty inmates of the prison of Guelmim have received dental care. This has allowed, in addition to surgery and planned consultations, to strengthen the local medical team and support jointly the sick and flood victims.
Other solidarity actions in Guelmim-Tata region will be supported by the Phosboucraâ Foundation.
On 7 December 2014, at Skhirat, was held the first award ceremony of « Lalla Hasnaa Sustainable Coastline trophies ». Each winner was awarded a trophy by Lalla Hasna, President of the Mohammed VI Foundation for Environmental Protection. These trophies recognize the awareness and training efforts to have a coastline sustainable development. This award is also to recognize the effort to spread a social and environmental responsible behaviors to preserve and protect the coastline.
In this occasion, OCP has received the « Clean beaches » trophy which was presented to the CEO Mostafa Terrab. This award recognizes the efforts undertaken by OCP Group in terms of environmental protection, particularly when it comes to « Let’s protect Fishers’ villages » program that was launched with the Rural Commune of Laamachat and that aimed to raise awareness among 500 people, mainly fishers, of the environmental protection of beaches and to keep beaches clean.
In Oulad Azzouz district (in Khouribga province), OCP Foundation undertook the renovation of four primary schools from Alkhiarat school group, in accordance with the partnership between OCP Foundation, Al Jisr association and Ouled Chaoui association for rural development and a Delegation from the Ministry of National Education.
The closing ceremony of the rehabilitation work (outer walls construction, sanitary facilities, water connection, etc) was held last December 4th with the participation of many stakeholders. This was also an opportunity to launch the teaching program planned for those schools.
The aim of the partnership is to provide offering an environment that promotes the academic development.
The OCP Foundation and its partners (UNIDO, Volvo, USAID, Ministry of National Education and professional Training) have launched a regional Academy for training on heavy industrial equipment and commercial vehicles. The academy will receive 150 students annually, coming from morocco Senegal, and Ivory Coast, and will be hosted in the school of Civil Engineering of the Chaouia-Ouardigha Region.
The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding of the project which aims to improve the employability of youth was held in on 21st of November in Marrakech in parallel of the Global Entrepreneurship Summit (GES).
The Regional Academy is part of the OCP foundation’s overall vision that puts education and improving employability of young people at the center of its concerns, aims to contribute to the reduction of youth unemployment in Morocco and offers training according to the market need of the country's industrial sector.
