As a global leader in phosphate-based plant nutrition solutions and sustainability, OCP's participation highlights its commitment to addressing the pressing issues of our time. Organized by The Climate Group, this high-profile event coincides with the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) and brings together leaders from business, government, and civil society to tackle topics such as agricultural decarbonization, water management, and climate adaptation.
OCP’s involvement underscores its dedication to leading sustainability initiatives that encompass food security, carbon neutrality, nature positivity, resource circularity, and social impact. As a pioneer in Sustainability and Green Energy, Green Hydrogen, and Green Water solutions in the Global South, OCP aims to shape the global climate action agenda through innovation and collaboration. Throughout the week, our team had the opportunity to share insights and experiences that reflect our ongoing commitment to sustainable practices and community empowerment.
Meriem El Asraoui, Chief Global Affairs Officer, spoke at the event "Commit to Grow Equality: A Global Commitment to Enhancing Gender Equality in Agrifood Systems through Financing and Partnerships by 2030." She highlighted the importance of women's contributions to agriculture, stating, "Over 50% of Africa’s agricultural labor is performed by women. We recognize the barriers they face and are dedicated to supporting initiatives that empower women with the resources and training they need to succeed."
Hanane Mourchid, Chief Sustainability & Innovation Officer, joined a panel on green water investments, emphasizing the value of collaboration: "By working together, we can develop innovative solutions to ensure sustainable access to water for communities, agriculture, and industry."
Naoufal Mahdar, VP of Decarbonation & Climate Action, participated in discussions on the necessity for agriculture to adapt to climate challenges. He shared our belief that "sustainable agriculture can create pathways for growth that benefit both people and the planet."
Dr. Leonardus Vergutz, Chief Innovation Officer, contributed to the International Fertilizer Association and APCO roundtable, where he discussed the importance of supporting farmers and fostering collaborative efforts to enhance productivity and resilience in Africa's agricultural sector.
